Do I need to take my electric car to the main dealer?

Absolutely not, unless it is for them to carry out repairs under the manufacturer’s warranty. All routine servicing and repairs can be carried out by the Electric Car Clinic at a more competitive price.

Do electric cars need MOTs?

Yes they do, the MOT rules for electric cars are exactly the same as for traditional vehicles.

How often should I service my electric car?

Service intervals are set by the manufacturer to maintain the vehicles warranty. Once the vehicle is outside of its' warranty, you can choose how often you would like your car serviced. A check/service at least once a year/12,00 miles would be recommended for routine checks.

How much does it cost to service an electric car?

Costs depend very much on what exactly is done at each service, but because electric vehicles have far less moving parts than an internal combustion engine, and in most cases, they don’t even have gearboxes, there's no engine oil, oil filter, exhausts and much less wear on the brakes meaning that maintenance costs will be much less than traditional internal combustion engine powered cars.

What specialist equipment do you use?

As well as the traditional, spanners and wrenches' we also use equipment which protects our technicians from the specific dangers which working on electric vehicles pose. Our top technician is accredited up to level four qualification in hybrid and electric propulsion technology and is therefore qualified to carry out all tasks on your vehicle.
